When Home Is Far From Boston

If you're reading this from California, from Texas, or from another country entirely, you already know the particular worry of parenting from a distance. Your child is building a life in Boston - new friends, new independence, a demanding course load. You're proud of them. And somewhere underneath that pride is a quiet question that surfaces at 2 a.m. What happens if they get sick, and I'm a flight - or an ocean - away?

Cobblestone Campus was built for exactly this distance. We are your family's private physician on the ground in Boston. We are reachable by your student any hour of the day or night, able to visit their dorm or apartment the same day, and - with their consent - able to keep you informed so you're never guessing across time zones. For families who live too far to drive over when something goes wrong, we become your eyes, your hands, and your advocate in the city where your child now lives.

The distance problems we solve

Distance changes everything about caring for a sick college student. The ordinary tools a local parent relies on - driving over, knowing the local doctors, being in the room - aren't available to you. Here's how we close each of those gaps.

You can't drive over when they're sick. We can.

When your student spikes a fever the night before an exam or comes down with something that won't pass, we come to them - same-day or next-day, in person, at their dorm or off-campus apartment. We examine them, run point-of-care testing for things like flu, COVID, and strep on the spot, and start treatment immediately. No waiting room, no rideshare across the city while feeling awful, no you-on-the-phone trying to judge how serious it is from two thousand miles away.

You don't know the Boston hospital system. We do.

Boston has some of the best hospitals in the world - and navigating them from out of state, or from abroad, is genuinely hard. If your student ever needs emergency or specialty care, we help them get to the right place. If they're admitted, we're at the bedside helping your family understand what's happening and advocating for the care they need. You get a knowledgeable person physically present, not just a phone number.

Time zones make communication hard. We bridge them.

A worry that lands at bedtime in Boston might reach you in the middle of your workday - or your night. With your student's consent, we update you directly when they're unwell, so the questions that would otherwise keep you awake get answered. You don't have to rely on a stressed 19-year-old to relay medical information accurately. You hear it directly from their doctor.

Student health centers keep business hours. Illness doesn't.

University health services are a genuine resource, but they have limited hours, long waits, and rotating providers who don't know your child. Your student reaches their own concierge doctor 24/7 - by secure text, phone, or an in-person visit - including nights, weekends, and the breaks when campus services shut down.

Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and making space for thoughtful, lasting work.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.

For international families

If your child has come to Boston from another country, you're navigating not just distance but an entirely different medical system—in a second language, across a time difference that can be twelve hours or more. That's a lot to place on a young person who is also adjusting to a new culture and academic environment.

We help your student understand their care in plain terms, coordinate with local providers and with their U.S. health insurance, and give your family a single, trusted point of contact in Boston who picks up when you reach out. We can help make sense of American prescriptions, referrals, billing, and what the U.S. system expects of patients—so your child isn't figuring it out alone at their most vulnerable moments.

How it works for families far away

The process is deliberately simple, because a system only reassures you if it works when everyone is stressed.

•     Your student reaches out. Any health concern, any hour - by secure text, phone, or video.

•     We respond right away. Often within minutes, we assess and decide together whether it needs a message back, a video visit, or an in-person visit to their room.

•     We treat on site. Testing, prescriptions and refills, and management of ongoing conditions - handled in person so care doesn't stall waiting for an appointment.

•     You stay informed. With your student's consent, we send you an update, so you know what happened and what comes next.

•     We follow through. We coordinate any specialty or hospital care and check back in - your student isn't handed off and forgotten.

Membership starts at $895 per semester, with expanded behavioral health services available.

College student far from home studying

The part parents worry about most: mental health

For many families living far away, the deepest worry isn't the flu - it's the harder-to-see struggles. The transition to college, academic pressure, homesickness, and the loss of daily structure can wear on even a confident student, and you're not there to notice the small signs you'd catch at home.

Our physicians provide integrated mental health care - including management of anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and medication when appropriate - so your student has continuity with a doctor who knows them, rather than starting over with a stranger during a hard week.

What far-away families ask us most

"Will I actually hear from you, or just from my child?"

With your student's consent, we update you directly when they're unwell. That reassurance is part of what membership is for—not an add-on you have to ask for.

"How fast can someone actually see my child?"

Same-day or next-day, in person, at their dorm or apartment—and around the clock by text, phone, or video for anything urgent in between.

"What if it's serious and they end up in the hospital?"

We're there in person, helping your family navigate Boston's hospitals and advocating for your child's care. Distance is exactly when having someone physically present matters most.

"My child is healthy - do we really need this?"

Most of what we do is for the ordinary things that become hard at a distance: the fever before finals, the prescription that needs refilling, the injury on a Saturday night. You're not buying it for a catastrophe. You're buying the calm of knowing someone trusted is a text away, whatever comes up.

"Which schools do you serve?"

We serve students across downtown and the greater Boston area. If your child attends a specific school, we have pages with details for each - see Concierge Care for BU Students and Concierge Care for Northeastern Students.

Peace of mind, wherever home is.

You did the hard part already—you raised someone ready to go build a life in Boston. You shouldn't have to trade all your peace of mind for it. Cobblestone Campus gives your student a doctor who knows them and gives you a trusted line into their health and wellbeing, so the distance feels a little smaller.
